Talking Infrastructure is currently exploring the use of AI – specifically large language models, or AI LLM – in Asset Management (and not just to come up with cheesy platypus images!)
This includes seeing what use we can make of things like ChatGPT for search and queries of TI and other reliable material on AM.
More importantly, as utilities and councils such as Blue Mountains exploit AI LLM for tasks such as ranking potholes in the roads, we need to ask what AI LLM can and can’t do – and in particular, the limits and dangers of relying on AI LLM for decisions.
We want to develop principles for using this technology, based on a sound understanding of the relation between information and decisions – and we think that part of this is to ask what makes a good decision in the first place.
