Understanding Infrastructure

Understanding Infrastructure and infrastructure decision making has been and continues to be a key theme throughout this blog.

Go here for a deeper understanding of infrastructure itself and the issues that decision makers need to contend with.

New Perspectives

New Perspectives reports on the new and interesting perspectives on infrastructure decision making that are now in the process of being developed.

Go here for new ideas that you can adopt and adapt – and contribute to.

Efficiency/Effectiveness

This is the First in our series of The Four Transitions: how we can prepare ourselves for our future infrastructure decision making needs as we move into the World of the ‘Internet of Things’.   It looks at the concepts, mindsets, infrastructure design, governance and funding issues of moving from a focus on efficiency to one of a focus on effectiveness and consider what tools and techniques are best suited.  This is currently being featured.

Go here for what we have developed already and to add to the research.

Sustainability/Adaptability

This is the Second of the Four Transitions – moving from a focus on sustainability to a focus on adaptability.  What is involved in this change of focus?  As with the first in the transition series, we consider concepts, mindsets, design, governance and funding issues and consider what tools and techniques are best suited.  To be developed 2018 3rd quarter.

Risk/Uncertainty

This is the Third Transition.  From a focus on risk, and its management by probability statistical analysis, to a focus on Resilience as a way of managing uncertainty.  As with both of the previous transitions, we build on what we already have and extend our capabilities to deal with the new.  To be developed 2018 4th quarter
